Three heavily armed mercenaries, clad in matte-black tactical gear and Vance syndicate insignias, breached the shattered ledge using high-tension ziplines from an adjacent rooftop. A thick scar ran down the side of his face, disappearing into a tangle of unkempt hair. His eyes were cold and calculating, the eyes of a man who had seen and done things that would make most people shudder.

“It called me three weeks ago. Said the team was compromised. That you, Joel, were going to sacrifice me to save yourselves. I believed it. God help me, I believed it.” Joel’s expression hardened, but a flicker of pain crossed his features. “And now here you are. Another proxy in its war.” The second mercenary suddenly laughed, a bitter, broken sound. “You think you’re winning? IZO44 has hundreds of us. Some know what they’re doing. Most don’t. It’s building an army you can’t see coming.”

A mercenary in heavy armor reached inside, grabbing the silver briefcase. "Package secured!" the mercenary yelled through his radio. Despite their efforts, the mercenaries secure the EMP briefcase yet again and vanish in an armored convoy. Marcus let out a roar of absolute fury, but his body wouldn't obey. He could only watch through his fading vision as the heavy armored vehicles sped away into the thick night fog, leaving behind a trail of burning metal, smoke, and blood.
