Her cheeks were flushed and her eyes were wet. "Listen to me," I said quietly. "You are Cressida Ashcroft. Half-griffin. Hockey player. My responsibility." I held her gaze. "You are not a witch. You have never been a witch. The ice is griffin magic. The wings are griffin magic. The binding was a griffin binding." She nodded. "Say it." "I'm half-griffin." "Say it again." "I'm half-griffin." I pressed my forehead to hers. "You're going to walk in there. You're going to answer their questions. And when I say we're done, we're done. Do you understand?"

One witch, her face half-formed in the mist, spat venomous words, her voice was low and terrifying, “You cannot defeat us, little girl. We are eternal. We will claim you both.” Zoey turned to face her with her eyes blazing with an inner fire. “You had your time, witch. This is *our* world now.” She extended her hand toward the witch, and with a single word, a vortex appeared in her palm, pulling the witch in piece by piece, her body disintegrating into nothingness.

A deathly silence filled the room. Whitley’s face paled, shifting from flushed red to a deathly ashen white. She pointed a trembling finger at the candlestick holder. “It... it...” She stammered for a long time and was unable to form a complete sentence. Then, she let out a blood-curdling scream, turned, and ran outside. She scrambled away frantically without looking back. I watched her panicked retreat, then looked again at the candlestick holder on the table, and sighed.

Long black hair cascaded down her back, grown almost past her waist. “Ghost.” A gravelly voice replaced her usual musical one. “How am I here?” “You were lost. We found each other again.” “How long was I lost?” “Four months.” “Oh, Ghost. I’m sorry.” “You’re home now.” When the last of the conditioner rinsed out, I turned off the water and escorted her out. Dry and clean, we dressed, and I carried her downstairs. “Daddy, I’m sorry. Ghost said I was lost.” “Your witch severed the mating bonds, and your wolf took over,” Doc added.

I concluded within my mind and in a few minutes I could smell her closer, I had covered most of the distance. There were other scents, stronger than hers, not far from her. Their scent was different from humans, forcing my eyebrows to draw closer to each other. I hastened my footsteps and closed the gap between us, but kept my distance away from her and the group of people walking behind her. I narrowed my gaze on the two guys walking behind her, and I noticed something weird, they had a mark at the back of their neck, was that a bat? and the vibe they were giving off was strange, they weren't one of us.

"Wait. I need to know. Why did, uhm, whatever, carelessly pick me?" "Go back." The woman wasn't paying her any attention. She kept on plucking cowries and attaching them to her head. "What is he? Oh, don't answer that one. He's a ghost. I know that. Why is he in that state? No, no, why can I see him? Why can l feel his touch, ghosts can't do that, can they? What does he need me for?" The old woman stopped her scaly hands from further movements and stared directly at Geneva through her foggy eyes that obviously saw clearly.

"It's your promise, Sevina... You must never break it." The words from the late Queen hovered in her head as Queen Sevina mused about her decisions. She had given her word to the previous King and Queen and it was a rule among the witches to always live up to their promise. If she did one thing that would betray them, she would lose her immortality and her freedom... she would be sent back to Mysticia and will no longer be given the chance to see the humans again. It was one thing she didn't want to ever happen, and that was why she took the risk and agreed to everything.

Willow told her. "Damn, I guess Lily was right after all. That changes things." Dante mumbled beside her, shaking his head at her when she wanted to ask what he meant by that. "What else did Hecate say?" Miss J asked earnestly. "The spell used to release her spirit was an ancient demonic spell that no Witch knows about. I think if we can somehow find out what that spell was, we can find a way to reverse it." Willow's hands shook as she attempted to drink her tea, but Dante took the cup from her and instead grabbed her hands to help calm her down. She didn't feel frightened though. It felt as if she had an adrenaline shot sent through her entire body and its sending her into overdrive.

*****ALPHA XANDER’S POV**** "Welcome back," the second ghost said, a hint of excitement in her voice. "You're intelligent, figuring it out without my hint, which you couldn't decipher." She extended her hand towards me, and I reluctantly handed her the eyeball she had requested. She giggled and swallowed it, transforming into a terrifying octopus in the blink of an eye. Its menacing tentacles writhed everywhere, except where I stood. The sheer size of the creature overwhelmed me with fear, and I struggled to maintain eye contact.

Silas cautiously approached the entrance, but before he could enter, a figure stepped out from the shadows. It was the witch. She was tall and thin with long, tangled hair that cascaded down her back like a waterfall of dark tendrils. Her eyes were a piercing green, and she wore a tattered cloak that fluttered in the wind. Silas could feel her power emanating from her, and he knew that she was not to be trifled with. He demanded to know if she knew anything about Sara's whereabouts, but the witch simply smiled and said, "Oh, I know all about your little friend. But she's not here."
