THE LAST SHIFT: A Werewolf without a Wolf

THE LAST SHIFT: A Werewolf without a Wolf

The hollow glowed as if it had stolen a fragment of dawn. Veins of fire traced themselves across the blackened stone, crawling like living lightning, branding the walls with memory. The scorched cracks hissed faintly, alive with a heat that wasn’t only heat, it was defiance. For a breath, just one fragile moment, I felt the forest stagger back.

Scorched

Scorched

She smiled. The heat here reminded her of her summer in Johannesburg, she thought of the cool water at the beaches she had visited and suddenly became thirsty. She ran her wet tongue over her parched lips and wished it would suddenly rain but then she groaned at the thought, it never rained in the desert. She rolled her head and jumped in frustration, upsetting the sand beneath her feet, sending dust particles up in the air.

Life On Fire

Nobody would understand him, not even his own brothers. Trying to make his way through the crowds of drunk bikers, Scar growled at the people bumping into him. He was not in the mood, not in the right mindset, he wasn't himself. Everything just seemed too loud, too bright. Scar's breathing increased as he saw the door to the corridor where his room was. The urge to scratch his skin until metallic liquid poured out of it had Scar screaming internally.

Richard said faking a shiver. “ You can still save yourself since you have not gone deep though” Ann jumped in with a drawl. “ Calm down tigress, I'm going nowhere” Richard smirking boyishly. “ I was just trying my luck, after all there is no harm in trying” Ann shrugged. “ My apologies but, luck is not by your side today” Richard smirked. “I am sure it is going to pour heavily soon” Ann said as a chilly wind blew pass her, causing her to shiver slightly.

I giggle, "I'm still a storm?" He smiles and pulls me closer, my boobs pushing up against his chest, "When you are at your peak of desire, your grey eyes flash a deep yellow. It reminds me of lighting." He leans down and licks my mate mark. "It's a storm that happens just for me." I moan with the wave of heat that moves through me.

Beautiful story! Loved the characters and the plot. I am not sure you can correct errors after the book is complete but be conscious of errors. They are very distracting. Looking forward to reading James's story when you have progressed a bit.

Seriously one of my favorite books! Read in 2 days. I just couldn’t put it down. Loved all the characters (well mostly) and I especially loved the little flowers! Great job and excited for book 2!!

Claimed by the Seven Alphas

Claimed by the Seven Alphas

Then scorched earth crashed in. Rex's pheromones hunted out from the corridor, barreling through the space between lily-of-the-valley and old paper. The char of wildfire. The bitterness of pine resin. The crack of superheated stone. It didn't probe. Didn't entwine. It swallowed. Old paper held its ground. Scorched earth wouldn't pull back. The three scents twisted into a garrote in the air, cinching around my throat, tighter with every breath. Every inhalation I took was laced with three flavors. The acrid dryness of cold paper. The choking burn of wildfire. The feral sweetness of lily-of-the-valley run amok. They fought inside my lungs.

I suppose you could say that I possess a keen ability to anticipate how someone will behave when they encounter my wrath. The sweet aroma of sizzling flesh, mingled with the symphony of anguished cries and torment, permeates the greenhouse. The glass crackles like a rat caught in a trap. And the temperature in the room doesn't just get hot, it becomes unbearably scorching.

A Time for Strength

A Time for Strength

Scorch howls in agony, then roars at the creature who just killed his mate. “Justice, I need to help him!” I struggle to keep my voice calm. “You can’t fight a werebear alone!” Scorch makes a strange squealing sound that turns into a man groaning. I have to help him. I can’t let him die. “I can’t sit here like a coward.” I stand up, but immediately double over again as the pain burns anew.

I thought this was a great book. It was interesting to read the perspectives of other characters, allowing us to see what they knew and when. My only complaint is a seemingly awkward ending. Does anyone know if the author is ok?

31 Chapters 07/13/23 Yesssss Sugar Mama, you've got my attention. Love a baddie, strong female with a saucy attitude. I was so tired of these weak little damsels who need big Zaddy Alpha to save them. I was horny throughout FL scenes. Thank you for that.

"You've seen what I'm capable of. There's no escaping the darkness that now engulfs me." Scarlett's grief transformed into a burning fury. She rose to her feet, her eyes blazing with determination. "You think you've won? You think darkness is all-powerful?

With her eyes resting on the fire, she use her nails to scratch the spot he ahd kissed and blood was forming on the red line her nails had continually and roughly dragged. A gently door losing behind her didn’t faze her one bit. She felt a shadow lingering behind her. “Thank you, Khalid. I didn’t think you would take such a long time to call Ambrose.” “He was asleep. No wolf like to be disturbed when he sleeps.” Zara smiled. She relax back on the chair and speak eerily. “Prepare the water. I want it to scorch me.” “Are you sure?” Khalid’s voice becomes sad. “His touch feels like thousands of insects are running down my body. I need to get it off me. I feel dirty.”
