He growled, and the sound vibrated as it hummed from his throat. “Stop playing Xerxes, you know my name is Meadow.” The she-wolf stepped up to him and nudged him with her snout. He smelt of pine cones and cherries. The wolf was caught off guard as the she-wolf licked the side of his face. “I am not Xerxes,” the wolf groaned. Meadow was confused. “What should I call you then?” Meadow purred, thinking that her mate likes role-playing. “I am Alazar,” he rumbled proudly.

Niko’s just growing stronger, that’s what I’d thought. How could that be a death sentence? “No…” I rasped. My eyes wouldn’t leave Niko’s tiny body lying there, wrapped in all those tubes and wires. “He’s Alpha-born. His dad and I are healthy. There’s no way…” He’s only seven. Darius and I immediately broke away to look at the source of the noise. My eyes nearly dropped out of the sockets when I saw none other than Alpha Xander standing in front of us.
