The competition finally starts, and the lights go off. Groups from different academies introduce themselves and present their show. All of them are good dancers, and it's hard to pick who's the best. There are multiple categories such as hip hop, jazz, ballet, and contemporary. Tyler cheers up all the groups while Kian films the show because he doesn't want his mum to miss anything.

Milo had been quiet throughout the banquet but I’d go up to the roof with him later on when the Palace was asleep. Milo pulled Abby to the dancefloor and strutted his stuff. He had always been a natural when it came to dancing and he could memorize the moves after watching a couple dance once. He was a natural when it came to a lot of stuff. For some reason, my heart raced in anticipation. I didn’t understand why but it felt important to know if she was or not.

"Come on, come on!" Brendan laughed and let her drag him onto the floor. I smiled as I watched them slide into a clear space and Abby's red hair started swinging around with her wacky dance moves. Evidently, she still didn't care about people's opinions of her. I kind of envied that. "Dancing isn't your thing either?" Jared asked me as Claudine and Matthew followed Abby and Brendan to the dance floor. "Not really," I admitted. "I can do the slow sway like no one's business, though."

That is, until the slow dance started, and everything shifted. I glanced toward the middle of the dance floor and saw Caleb and Abby dancing together. Him in his wrinkled dress shirt, her in that yellow dress that seemed to glow under the soft lights. They moved slowly, almost tentatively, but there was something natural there, a connection I couldn’t deny.
