The Knight's Claimed Bride
We rode on, the morning sun lifting higher, until a dark slope rose ahead, crowned by the kind of estate that made you straighten instinctively, just to look at it.
My chest tightened as I recognized it—its sharp gables, the tall, watchful windows, the black iron fence edging the graveyard.
Blackthorn Hall.
The name my mother had whispered all those years ago echoed in my mind.
Built of dark stone, its gables cut sharply against the sky, the windows tall and watchful. A black iron fence marked the graveyard to its left—rows of weathered headstones resting in the dappled shade of oaks. The place had an air of permanence, as if time had agreed to flow around it rather than through it.
