Setelah menutup telepon, dia menoleh ke Rena dan berkata dengan lembut, "Rena, aku ada urusan penting, harus keluar sebentar. Kamu istirahat saja dulu, nanti aku segera balik." Tanpa menunggu jawaban darinya, Jeremy buru-buru pergi untuk bersih-bersih dan mengganti pakaian. Dia meninggalkan rumah tanpa menoleh sedikit pun. Sesaat kemudian, layar ponsel Rena menyala. Ternyata pesan dari Nadia. [ Rena, kamu kalah. Dari dulu aku sudah bilang, Jeremy itu milikku. ] Tepat di bawahnya, ada pesan lain yang dikirim tiga hari lalu. [ Kalau aku kena kanker, menurutmu Jeremy bakal ninggalin kamu buat datang ke aku nggak? Aku yakin dia pasti datang. ] Tatapan Rena perlahan terangkat dari layar ponsel ke arah pintu kamar yang masih terbuka. Jeremy tidak tahu, dia sudah lama belajar bahasa asing itu. Seluruh percakapan tadi, didengar dan dipahaminya dengan jelas. Sejenak kemudian, wajah Rena menyunggingkan senyuman yang begitu pahit dan menyedihkan. "Iya ... aku memang kalah ...."
