His Deadly Obsession
He looked up when he saw me and let out a bitter laugh.
“Oh, look who’s back,” he said, his voice nasally. “Did you come to finish what your little attack dog started? Or are you here to apologize for him?”
I didn’t answer. I reached into my jacket and pulled out a pair of black leather gloves. I put them on slowly, one finger at a time, making sure he was watching every movement.
Damien’s smirk faded slightly.
“What? You’re going to beat me up too now?” he asked, trying to sound brave. “Go ahead. It won’t change anything. The story is already out there. Everyone knows Cassian is losing his mind. And you… you’re just his scary little shadow.”
