Sebastian finally turned his head, studying her profile—the tight line of her jaw, the stillness of her shoulders.
“You know Elara never loved you,” he said calmly, like stating a fact as obvious as the weather.
Lily’s fingers curled tighter.
“She didn’t,” Lily agreed. “She owned me.”
Sebastian nodded once. “That makes this easier.”
“No,” Lily said, finally looking at him. Her eyes were dry, sharp, burning. “It makes it clearer. Not easier.”
