Craving My Stepson

Craving My Stepson

Reading felt safer than untangling what happened. I’d only just gotten to the start of a new chapter when the sound of footsteps crunched against the gravel. I looked up, shielding my eyes from the sun, and before I could react, a familiar hand smacked my book right out of my hands. “Ace!” I yelped, half-annoyed, half-startled. The book landed on the grass with a soft thud. He grinned down at me, his messy hair catching the sunlight, his eyes gleaming with mischief. “What are you doing out here hiding with a book? You should be paying attention to me.”

The Lunar Legacy

The Lunar Legacy

Fire and stone, pup—stand tall. The hollow sang—jasmine swirled, runes glowed, yews whispered, the spring’s ripples a chorus. Sam’s tattoo glowed, Kevin’s ring her strength, Mara’s cord her edge, Lila’s scrolls her guide, Cora’s visions her heart, Tess’s fire her shield, the pups’ chains her future. The Bone Shadow was dust, but a marrow curse stirred, its ash a call, its red glow a promise of war. The Dawn Pack’s fire burned eternal, their howl a defiance under a dawn poised for blood, a saga unfinished, a world teetering on the edge of oblivion, begging to be explored.

Sold to the Lycan King

Sold to the Lycan King

Something in the wind—low and echoing like it came from the bones of the world. Morwenna heard it too. Her head snapped toward the stone archway behind us. The fire we’d lit had dimmed, its glow turning green. Sickly. Wrong. A shadow slipped across the ground. No sound. No footfall. But the grass beneath it wilted. Morwenna cursed and stepped back, dragging me with her. “Don’t let it touch you,” she warned, voice hoarse. “What is it?” “The Bone Seer.” It didn’t look like a man. It didn’t look like anything human. Tall, skin stretched too tight, no eyes—just black holes weeping smoke. Its fingers were too long. Too sharp. Bones showing through rotting skin.

Being in a bookstore increased those chances a bit. “You know,” the young man said, “I read your first book, Out of the Shadows, Into the Dark.” “Well, thank you.” “Don’t thank me yet. I didn’t say whether I liked it or not.” This surprised a laugh out of Brad. “Touché.” “I’m just messing with you,” the man said, wearing an infectious grin. “I thought it was a great book, creepy and atmospheric. The movie adaptation, on the other hand . . . that was a real stinker.”

Shadows of Deception

Shadows of Deception

The lights in the room seemed to fade, and the children faded around her: Everything disappeared, and she was left alone in that cold, dark room. The metallic smell of blood laced through the room, and she turned around to be surrounded by the ghost of those children. They were covered in blood. Some of their arms and legs twisted abnormally and some sustained deep wounds. She wanted to run, but she couldn’t. Her feet were glued to where she stood. They all neared her in that circle, they wanted to hurt her: They walked closer to her. Closer: Closer:

Betrayal under the wolf’s moon

Betrayal under the wolf’s moon

“Take the book, and take this.” A glint of silver caught the firelight—a ring, intricately carved with ancient runes I couldn’t read. My mother pressed it into the hands of a shadowed figure. “You must hide it. Both of them. They can never find it.” “Who?” the figure whispered. “The Council. The Darkborn. Even the Alphas. They’ll all want it. They’ll all want her.” Her mother’s voice shook. “Please—keep her safe.” The scene shifted. Blood. So much blood. The book lay open, pages fluttering in the wind, stained crimson. My’s childlike scream echoed through the trees, messing with my head.

An Act of Vengeance

An Act of Vengeance

"As it fades, I see the truth - in plain sight, yet hidden all along. We are children of blood and bone. All instruments of vengeance and virtue." - Tomi Adeyemi, Children of Blood and Bone * * * * Yuri frowned as she stared at the dark building in front of her which looked like the sort of building used as a prison. The paint was slowly peeling off the walls of the building, and it looked to be right out of some ghost movie.

Shadows of the Lost

Shadows of the Lost

“And oh, include the level of your shadow and the type.” Z’s eyes widened. She stared at Sloane with disbelief, as though she’d gone mad, as though she’s a talking corpse. She could lie, of course. However, she knew very well that’d be a risky business. What if they asked for proof of her statement? What if they demand to see her shadow? She closed her eyes, biting her lips so hard. ‘This is such a mess!’ “Right! I’ll go first.” Sloane smirked. “I know you’ve heard of me, but I’ll introduce myself for formality. The name’s Sloane. I’m a fifteen-year-old powerful and intimidating Shadowest from Beththorphe Empire.”

Probably the most challenging story I have written. With about 5 drafts and two years of crafting, it’s my longest work. It’s thrilling. I revisit it sometimes and, he, even I get overwhelmed and awed. I mean, it feels like I’m not the one who wrote it.

I love the world building of this novel! Even when you’re only in chapter one you can already see how the author meticulously planned the settings of the story. It’s descriptive so even if the world is new and unfamiliar the readers could still easily imagine what it’s like.
