Stripping off my clothes, I left them and my bag under a redwood tree, then I let Rose take over. "Let's run to our heart's content! Then we'll take a bath in the river," I said to her. Under the luminous gaze of the full moon, I felt an irresistible force surging through my being. My heart quickened with anticipation. Closing my eyes, I focused on the power within, embracing the ancient magic that coursed through my veins. It began with a tingling sensation, like a thousand tiny needles tracing patterns across my skin. My bones shifted, and a rush of euphoria washed over me as my human form started to contort.

"YOU HAVE BUILT A CATHEDRAL ON A FOUNDATION OF SAND. YOUR 'EVOLUTION' IS MERELY A DECORATION ON MY BONES. I HAVE COME TO RECLAIM THE MARROW." ​The Alpha raised a hand, a massive, five-fingered claw made of ancient obsidian and future-tech circuits. As he moved, the Shadow-Wolves that had been swimming in the wave leaped out. They weren't animals. They were "Draft-Versions" of Leo. Twisted, half-finished silhouettes of a man, eyes glowing with the same emerald hunger.

Every fracture released waves of darkness that dissolved into nothing before touching the battlefield. The original Aria ran toward the Shadow without hesitation. “No! ”Her voice echoed across the collapsing realm. She reached the enormous being just as another explosion of golden light burst from its body. She placed both hands against its chest, trying to steady the darkness that was falling apart piece by piece. The Shadow looked down at her. For the first time since its birth, tears flowed from its empty eyes. “I tried,” it whispered. The original Aria shook her head fiercely. “I know.”

As we head their way, I glance around and observe that other teams are already gathering together in their respective sections. I observe a handful of them looking our way—or, more specifically, at Atticus. As I look around us in the vast space, I observe shrubs shaped like wolves. And each wolf took on a distinct appearance than the others. One appears to be resting, another seems to be ready to pounce, and another appears to be pursuing something in the air.

It’s recognition. I feel it again. That presence. Watching me from the corner that shouldn’t be there. From the shadow that crawls just outside the edge of sense. You’re a return. Those words weren’t in my ears. They were in my bones. “Who are you?” I whisper. The shadows shift, and in the hush that follows, I don’t hear a voice—but I see something. A flicker of a memory. Not mine.

CHAPTER THIRTY-FIVE War of Shadows and Stars The first assault wave struck Shadoweave's outer defenses with force that transformed dawn into apocalypse, reality fracturing under magical pressure that exceeded every theoretical framework as House Zoryn's elimination specialists met alliance coordination enhanced through chaos magic that rewrote the fundamental rules of territorial warfare.

“From the few years I spent in Moon Shadow as a Lunar Sentient before I chose the better path of the Horax… I learned things. I studied the shield of their city—the dome that hides Moon Shadow from the rest of the world. Only those with pure Lunar Sentient blood can access it… those corrupted by Lira’s fragmented power, like us, can see it but can’t enter. Everyone else thinks the land ends in mist.” The Horax leaned in, listening. “Moon Shadow,” Tamar continued, “is suspended above the world. Hidden by illusion. Protected by an ancient shield reinforced through the four arc-gates—north, south, east, west. If we destroy those… the city will become visible. Vulnerable. Ripe for our taking.” O

Somewhere deep in the forest, a distant wolf howled. Aria squeezed his hand. “Tomorrow might change everything.” Varek nodded. “Then we face it together.” The moon climbed higher into the sky. And somewhere beyond the northern forest… The rogues were already preparing for the meeting that could decide the future of Shadowridge.

As the sun began to set, casting a warm golden hue over campus, Charlie, Maya, Ethan, and Liam gathered in their secret hiding place, the old abandoned hedge garden behind the science building. The air was thick with anticipation; they had been waiting for this moment for weeks. The four friends had been diligently gathering information about the plot against the werewolf king, and now they were ready to share their findings with Jessica.

“It’s not hurting me.” The shadow shifted. A voice began to speak from inside it—low and broken. “The child lives…” The crowd froze. The Guardian stepped forward with its glowing eyes locked onto the shadow. “You are not supposed to exist,” it said. The shadow laughed out loudly. “And yet, I do.” Aria lifted her head slowly. “What are you?” She asked the shadow. The shadow turned towards her. “I am what the Council buried. I am that which they feared would answer the prophecy.”
