They moved too fast, too fluid, like they didn't quite exist in the same world as us. One of them stepped toward me, and Storm's hand shot up. Light exploded from her palm, slamming into the creature and turning it to ash. "Shadowspawn," she said flatly. "They're the servants of something older. Something darker." Kai appeared through the smoke, his blades already drawn. His eyes went gold, his body rippling as he fought against shifting. "Emilie, get down!" I dropped as he lunged forward, slicing through a shadow creature that had been reaching for me. It dissolved without a sound.

Ice asks. “A witch I met in New Orleans,” Bo replies with a smile. Seems like more than a friend to me. “She’ll meet you at the airport when you land in Portland. From there, it’s about a six and a half hour drive to Crescent Shadow territory.” I nod my head.
