The bed was the only piece of furniture, save for a small nightstand with a single drawer. Her curiosity getting the better of her, Aurora approached the nightstand, her trembling hand reaching for the drawer. It slid open with an eerie creak, revealing an assortment of items that sent a shiver down her spine. There were whips, chains, and various instruments of pain, along with bottles of what looked like lubricant. A whimper escaped her lips as she realized the true purpose of this room.

Her breathing leveled out, and she hovered right on the dark edge of sleep. Then, the air in the small bedroom completely shifted. Hazel didn't hear a door open. The storm outside was too loud. But the ambient temperature in the room suddenly felt different. The hairs on the back of her neck instantly stood up. A floorboard creaked near the foot of her bed. It was a heavy, deliberate sound. Hazel’s eyes snapped open in the pitch black. Pure, icy panic flooded her veins. Someone was in her room. She sucked in a massive breath of air, opening her mouth to scream for her mother.

She walked over to a bookshelf in the somber room, placed her small hand behind a porcelain sculpture, and pressed a button that made the bookshelf move and a door appear. Behind that door, in stark contrast to the discretion of the previous two rooms Harry had been in, was a bedroom that resembled a motel room, with a round bed, many mirrors, and even a dancing pole, something Harry had only seen before on television or in adult films. While he observed every detail around him and tried to imagine what would happen between them there, she added to the sensuality by turning on the music and dimming the lights.

Swallowing hard, I muttered courage and once again made my way into the dark room. The flickering of the lighting, cobwebs brushing my skin like ghostly fingers, creaking sounds of the crickets all added to the haunted vibes I was feeling in the room, a sensory assault that heightened my vulnerability. The deafening silence only intensifies my fear, leaving me with a sinking feeling that something truly horrific has occurred.
