She bowed in respect. “Amy, who is this young wolf with you?” Kydence asked. “Uumm... well, I know that we have never...” Amy started. “Amy calm down.” She chuckled. “You are not in trouble. This is a good thing.” She patted Amy’s arm. “This is the only way we can have more Shadows.”

She can do it no more. Amy breaks out of the trance like she is breaking above the surface of water. She looks down and draws a breath in a long gasp and shoots it back out of her mouth with a whoosh. She plops back on her seat, defeated. She draws closer to Kosi now, inching her face towards hers. “I don’t know. Does Michael seem alright to you?” Kosi’s face is impassive. “He’s a boy. Are they ever?” Amy is immediately flustered, caught off guard. “I didn’t—you—” her voice descends to a whisper and she brings her head lower and closer to Kosi’s, “you know what I mean.”

His weight dipped on my bed, and his body hovered above Shadow, her mouth part opened and Amino took that as a chance to thrust his tongue in between her parted lips. The kiss was simple and nonsexual. But it weighed more than Shadow wanted to. Swiftly, she used all her strength and pushed Amino away. “Mo- move,” her voice sounded hoarse and unrecognizable. “Don’t touch me.” She cried yet again, feeling so helpless in front of that face. “Shadow,” Amino was pushed a few inches from her, watching her. “Shadow, I’m…” There were no words that could justify his action. Even the beast hadn’t expected much from him at first, but after the attack landed, it realized its mistake in underestimating the person in front of it. In that instant, as the beast swung its head to the side, Felix threw another two stones, this time aiming for the black one’s eyes. “Wait… he’s not using any ability?” Amy said out loud, as she activated hers and saw the energy around her—and only then did she realize it. ⸻

I stood frozen, a deer in the headlights, a thousand ideas and dreams racing through my head. A shadowed figure, walking swiftly towards him, snagged my gaze – and crushed my dreams. Hands covered her face and her shoulders shook with tears. She moved into the slant of moonlight, and I knew for sure then that it was Amy. Perfect Amy. He looked up, too, and his face twisted with emotion. I’d never seen him look at me like that. My Alpha – not my Alpha, not really – went to her and comforted her, pulling her head to his chest and pressing a kiss to her bowed forehead.

Lucas asked. Amy swallowed. “M…me?” Lucas leaned closer to her more, his voice quiet. “Yes, you. Forget about Alicia for now. What do you feel like doing?” Amy gave him a small smile. “I feel like kissing you.” Lucas slid his hand to the back of her neck and pressed his lips on hers. Amy melted into the kiss, her fingers instinctively gripping his shirt. He didn’t rush—his lips moved slowly, deliberately, so he could savor every second. He tilted his head, deepening the kiss, his fingers threading through her hair.

“Even though you despise me, I can keep secrets. I won’t tell Amy what happened between us. I’m your friend. Not only that, but I only came here to see my cousin.” The secret she referred to was the kiss, and the way she said it reminded me that Maia was a ticking time bomb. “It’s good to keep secrets, Maia,” I said, lightly squeezing her arm, a subtle warning. At that exact moment, the door opened, and Amy appeared. She wore a casual outfit, but her posture was tense, and her eyes were cold. She saw us standing in the doorway, whispering. Amy stared at us, first me, then Maia, her gaze sharpening into a blade of suspicion.

I tease. “Both of you, please, leave me alone!” That makes us laugh more, then she rushes inside the kitchen. “So, Phoenix, do you like my friend?” Amy crosses her arms over her chest and raises her eyebrows. “Is it too obvious?” I raise a brow. She gives me a high-five. “I like you already.”

A crowd of people… No, witches, surrounding her. This is current Amy. I grab her hand and tighten my grasp, as we watch the other Amy walk closer to the moon, then turn back towards us. Her body is splashed with blood and a creepy smile gracing her face as she looks back at the carnage she’s caused, then to her followers. A sob leaves Amy when we see Liam walking closer to her, and she falls to her knees, and I follow her, staying by her side. The creepy smile on vision Amy only widens at the sound of Liam’s voice. “Amy. Please. Amy. I know you’re in there.” He rasps, clearly tired from the battle he’s fought.

AVA's POV I can't stop the sobs from coming as I curled up against the wall Axel had pinned me. How could he do this to me? And what the hell was he thinking kissing me like that? I wondered with my head down against my knees. "Amy, I..." Axel's shaky voice drew my attention and I look up. I gasped as my gaze travels to Amy, standing under the shadow of a tree. Mixed emotions of pain, anger, and betrayal simultaenously flashed in her eyes as she took an unsteady step forward.
