Beyond Redemption
When I opened my eyes, the world was wrong.
The sky was a deep violet shot through with cracks of gold. The ground shimmered like obsidian, reflecting the twisted stars above. Rivers of black fire ran between jagged cliffs, and in the distance, a colossal throne carved of shadow loomed over everything.
Edward was beside me, breathing hard. “This is his realm?”
“Welcome, children of light,” a voice echoed from everywhere and nowhere. “You come to challenge a god.”
The ground trembled, and from the throne, the Shadow God rose — towering, beautiful, terrible. His form was no longer smoke; it was flesh and light and darkness intertwined.
