Aurora asked, her face displaying a large smile. “Yeah.” Xander didn’t say anything, his eyes remained on the mountain. “About the rogues, you told me you killed one of the hunters, didn’t you?” Aurora said, her eyes on Xander. I looked at Xander, dumbfounded. “You killed one of the hunters?” Xander sighed and looked at us. “Yeah, he was one of the rogues. He’s human,” Xander said, scoffing in disdain. “I want you to trace the scent. I need to find the mask behind the penetration of these filthy hunters,” Xander said and Aurora nodded.

All of them armed and looking outside, distracted by the Shark Units. I'm not going to get out of here alive, there are too many of them and only one of me. Among them I find the mastermind behind this plan: Xander Norton. The man I’ve been chasing for years, the Eel responsible for Grace’s death. I grab my rifle, the temptation to kill him is too grand. I feel drops of sweat on my forehead. My body is begging me to do it, but I control myself. I might be able to kill Xander but that will condemn the rest of us to die in the explosion. I have to keep my head cool. The Xander is speaking into a portable radio. I pay attention to what he says.

Hunter spent the rest of the trip with his head in his hands, thinking about Zahn and Joe. What if Joe doesn't make it too? Would he be able to live with himself? How could Zahn die? Zahn was the one who brought life to their trio. She was the joker. How could she die? Hunter scratched his head roughly and then covered his eyes with his fists and sniffled. Rebecca placed a hand on his back. "Rhita will be so heart broken." Hunter said.

His gaze swept past everyone’s face then he said, “Xander has already been killed by me. His dog tags are with me. If I’m not mistaken, I’m the person with the most dog tags in The Great Hunt. There’s still some time until the end of The Great Hunt, whoever wants it can come and snatch it from me and I shall oblige.” No one responded to him at all! What a joke, a powerful person like Xander was killed by Zayn like this so how could underlings like them match Zayn huh!

There was a Hunter in his hotel. The stench of death that clung to Hunters was hard to hide. The darkness, the evil in their souls, always gave them away. Hunters were human, but they committed so many heinous acts in their mission to eradicate all werewolves that he could never sense any humanity in them. Just death and darkness. He heard Layla’s elevated heartbeat behind him and turned to look at her. Her grip was so tight on the rail that he could see the metal bending between her fingers. He turned back to Britney quickly and gave her a tight smile.

Hunter tried to assure me. “Besides…” He leaned back into the cushion. “Wasn't the cause of death a Vampire, we will erase them with stupid ease before any more attack is carried out in these walls. I have a squad that answers to me and now indirectly, answers to you who are specialized in the art of darkling combat.” Hunter announced proudly. He seemed so confident, it became infectious. I began to think if I was the only one overthinking it. Maybe it was the creeping fog the previous night that still caused me an unpleasant feeling, or the horrible nightmare I initially had.

I can hear Hunter grumble, ‘Useless Human’ under his breath as he makes quick work of joining Salara who is already deep into battle. Launching through the air, we tackle a wolf that was about to pounce on Salara’s back while she was unaware. Hunter makes quick work of the wolf, going straight for the throat and snapping its neck with no remorse. The wolf shifts back into it’s human form, causing us to pause when we are left staring at the lifeless body of Josiah, one of our missing pack mates.

While this gave him extra strength, it also made his fighting style impulsive and a little sloppy. I was brainstorming where to hide Richard so I could help Dad protect Sofia when the hunter who killed my mother came over to join his friends. “ They have an older daughter as well. I managed to kill this traitors werewolf bitch but the kid escaped with her baby brother. The kid even managed to kill Jordan. I suspect she also killed everyone else as Hank was dead on the ground and Jake is missing!,” the hunter yelled at his comrades.

It was brief, lasting a couple of seconds before Hunter turns left and straight down the now-empty halls.
