It felt like they were going to eat me alive, burying me under their questions, judgments, and disgust. I was trapped. Andre and Lola tried pulling people back, but they couldn’t do much. The crowd was too thick and too loud. My own friends were helpless. Then,there was a big bang! A loud slam echoed across the room. Everyone froze. Heads turned backward. Silence fell. It came from Jack’s desk. He barely spoke to anyone, he's always quiet and usually kept to himself. I think he played the piano sometimes with a few other music kids. But today,his voice was louder than any chord he’d ever played.

Then came the growl—a guttural, ear-splitting sound that made my body tremble. With a sudden burst of motion, he grabbed the glass vase from a side table and hurled it at the wall, shattering it into jagged pieces. The shards glittered like fallen stars before they scattered across the floor. He didn’t stop there. The heavy gold band of the Vane crest ring drove straight through the amber interface, the sharp edges of the crystalline display splintering beneath the raw force of my downswing. A violent cascade of blue sparks erupted from the ruined console, casting frantic, erratic shadows across the cedar-paneled walls of the library before the entire dashboard died, plunging the rear of the room into a deep, heavy dark.

The sound of glass shattering catches my attention and I see the windows that surround the circular room breaking under the pressure of the scream.

The shards sliced into my hand, and thick blood began to drip slowly down. In a sliver of glass still clinging to the frame, his eyes appeared again, a dark promise gleaming within them. “I will take everything from you, warrior of the moon!” The shards of glass rose magically, flying toward me like sharpened blades. I instinctively crossed my arms to shield my face as the glass cut into my body, leaving streaks of blood everywhere.

BOOM! The catastrophic blast wave shattered the condo windows and every glass surface within the next twenty feet. The concussive force knocked Serena backward across the room. The shards of the shattered windows flew in every corners. One caught in her shoulder, sending her shriek as she hit the floor hard, her head bouncing off the polished wood with a dull thunk. Her ears rang. Everything was white noise and pain. She gasped but couldn’t hear her own voice. Disoriented, she struggled to roll onto her side. But she couldn't move. Her left ankle caught under a fallen furniture. Dust and glass rained down from the ceiling. Bits of plaster floated through the room like snow in a nightmare.
