Balance is the key.” The fan above us groaned as it turned slowly, like it too was tired of this routine. I let my eyes scan the room. Desks were scattered with wrappers and books half-unpacked. Chalk dust floated through slanted sunlight. Everything looked familiar and slightly drained. Like we were all waiting for the real term to begin.

I stared at the file, a war between fury and fatigue rising in me. “She didn’t just steal my husband. She stole my peace.” Lucas nodded. “Then take it back.” That night, I sat on my balcony, stars scattered across the sky like secrets. Sophie Lane had disappeared. But not for long. In the distance, the ruins of Eldergloom floated like broken teeth in a dark sea, the spires of the High-Sector twisted into jagged spirals that defied the eye.

I couldn't help laughing. "Miss Hayes, there are only three such pieces of porcelain left in the entire world. One is at the Met Museum, another at the National Museum, and the last one…" I pointed at the shattered fragments on the ground. "…is right there. Where exactly do you plan to find a replacement?" "Stop bragging!" Yuri suddenly jumped forward. "The Hayes' antique business has treasures of every kind. And you expect us to believe yours is the most precious? You're just trying to extort us!"

The Shattered Vale stretched before them, a scarred plain of ruined villages, blackened trees, and rivers turned to molten veins. The wind carried the smell of ash, blood, and smoke, a bitter reminder of Malakar’s cruelty. Ashenrealm’s army had gathered at the Spire’s edge, soldiers lined in rigid formation, banners flapping in the acrid air. Magic and fire intertwined in the sky, flickering with anticipation.

“That’s right. Keep fighting. You know I don’t mind hurting you. You’re nothing but some dirty whore who can’t even fuck right.” I can’t scream because of his hands. I can’t fight because of his weight. I can’t do anything to stop him. Maybe, just maybe, this time he’ll kill me, and it will be over. No, I can’t let him win. I bite down on his hands hard, and he pulls back. “HELP, HELP. SOMEBODY HELP ME. HELP ME! “SAM, WAKE UP.” Somebody’s shaking me, but I can’t escape.
