* * * Tyler "Dude, are you reading?" I looked at Hunter who stood beside me against the wall with a book in his hand. I honestly thought there was nothing more surprising than this. I knew he could read, but I just thought he was more of a picture-person than words-person since he usually read Playboy. The book in his hand, however, wasn't a magazine; it was actually a real book. A thick one, I observed. I moved closely without making any noises then took the book from right under his nose. "Man, give it back! I'm not finished!" Hunter crossed his arms in front of his chest and looked at me annoyed.

They did some sort of bro-handshake as they greeted themselves like brothers. However, I didn't see any similarity between them. Hunter had pale blonde hair and blue eyes that gleamed with mischief. He had a leaner frame than Shawn, and he was slightly shorter than Shawn. Shawn turned to me with a broad smile. “Luna, this is the Beta of this pack, Beta Hunter.” He introduced him. Hunter's eyes narrowed slightly at Shawn's words as he studied me. “Is this her—the Luna Queen?” He asked Shawn, still watching me with a sharp gaze. He said ‘Luna Queen’ with a sour look on his face.

Hunter finishes with a hard look. “So you’re-” He cuts me off. “A hybrid. Half Undead, half werewolf. My brothers are pure werewolves.” Wow. I realize that I said that out loud when I hear Hunter’s laughter, his eyes crinkling with amusement. “Glad you think so, little mate.” He presses his lips to my forehead before gazing at me adoringly, caressing my cheek with his thumb. We stay outside for few more hours, just talking and getting to know each other.

Please do not let it be him. But deep down, in the trembling, traitorous center of me, I already knew the truth. ShadowKing was Jax. Knox was listening with the same focused attention he gave everything that came from Hunter, and Hunter kept pausing to check that Knox was still listening and Knox kept making sounds that confirmed he was. I stood at the counter with my coffee and tried to remember what the mornings had looked like before this.

"Enough," he growls. The Archivist snarls. "You're out of bounds, Hunter." He ignores her, turning to me. "Get up. Unless you want to be a footnote." The static recognizes him. Not his face-his *essence*. He smells of blood and static, like me. "Who are you?" I demand. He sheathes his blade. "Someone who's read your story. And *hates* the ending." --- **The Hunt**
