Were we going to have this conversation again? “Why?” She shot me an irritated look. “Because I’m a librarian. When this started, you promised me that you wouldn’t take my library away. I need to work and keep busy. Do you have any idea how important the programs I’m trying to run are?”

Finally. Taking a slow draw of breath in, I walk up the steps to the library doors and keep my head down. Not wanting to engage with anyone just in case I catch something that gives them away. When I blink, I see that it is only the old librarian. Perfect, I’m losing my mind. I keep seeing him everywhere.
