The Temporary Husband
When I came into this country, I was full of dreams and aspirations, I was sure I would find happiness that never came easily to me back home, here.
Soon, I discovered my happiness was quick sand. Every time I moved, it seemed to drown me. It kept moving, shifting, never stable.
I thought once the code was complete, I’d get it, the thing called happiness.
When Mackayla and I started going out, I’d find what’s missing.
Then both of them disappeared, along with the fleeting thing I thought I’d found.
The goal post shifted again. When I find them again, when I’m with my child, perhaps that quick sand will stop moving.
