Mom chuckled, “I don’t think it was adapted into a play, but it is a short story. An old one, at that.”
I forgot that mom had been reading more lately. “Are you familiar with it?”
“Well sure, it’s a simple story. To boil it down, it’s about a guy who has too much pride and takes a stupid deal that would inevitably lead to his death just to, in my opinion, show off.”
I froze in my chair and stared at her blankly for a minute before I finally said, “Huh.”
“It’s an odd choice of story to use.”
“He said that I was the challenging green monster because of my eyes and personality.”
