Saturday was forty-eight hours away. I had two days to pretend I wasn’t terrified. Two days to pretend I wasn’t about to walk into a cage with something that wasn’t human. Two days to pretend seventy thousand dollars was worth whatever was waiting for me. Saturday morning I spent playing with Noah on the living room floor. Building towers with his blocks. Kissing his chubby cheeks. Telling him stories about brave princesses who always came home. Liam watched from the kitchen table. “You’re leaving tonight,” he said. Not a question.

Rajeev awoke from his difficulty to sleep and begged his grandma to tell him a story. “ Story? Now? Rajeev, stop resisting; it’s time for bed.” “Just one, Grandma, I couldn’t go to sleep.” “Now , which narrative would you want to hear? “ “ Would you please read this book to me?” He presented a book to his grandma that he had earlier tried to read. Vedika picked up the book and pointed to the subtitle, “In search of true heart.” She immediately asked “where you got this book.” “I discovered it at dad’s library, therefore grandmother, if you can read other languages, will you kindly read it to me? “

What better way to eliminate boredom than by reading a book? I had recently downloaded a reading app, where you can read your favourite stories of different genres. Right now I am reading a novel called Loving Hayden. It is about two teens who were once archenemies but later became friends with their enemies. Okay, maybe not friends with benefits, more like enemies with benefits. I was eager to see where their relationship was going to lead. I continue to flip through my phone as I read the story. I was so engrossed with the story that I didn't realize how much time had passed. I was disturbed by the sound of a knock at the door.

And I would love books like these. "Yes, it has the wonderful collections of the people's hearts which would strongly affect our heart! Shall I tell you the story that affected my heart the most? But I am not good at storytelling, but I will shortly tell you the core of that incident."

“Come, Mia. Daddy is reading a story.” I look at Mikhail to see what he thinks. I don’t want to bother them. He looks at me for a second, then gives a small nod. I walk in and sit on the floor next to his legs. I lean my back on the side of the bed. He is quiet for a few seconds, then starts reading again. The story is about a lost horse, I think, but I don’t listen to the words. I only hear his voice. It’s deep. A little rough. I close my eyes and just listen.

Josh asked curiously, eyes wide, “do you like the story of the clever mouse-deer who got lost in the forest?” “Hm… I don’t think I’ve heard that one before.” Daven tilted his head thoughtfully. “Why? Would you read it to me?” “Would that be okay?” “Why wouldn’t it be?” Daven grinned. “Unless you mind.” “Not at all,” Josh said firmly. “I’ll read it after lunch. Will you wait for me?” “Yes, Mr. Daven! Wait a bit after we finish eating,” one of the kids chimed in. “Josh is really good at reading stories. We love reading time!”

A man and a woman happened to sit next to one another on a train. The woman took out a book and began reading. The train stopped at half a dozen stations, but she never looked up once. The man watched her for a while, then asked, "What are you Reading?" "A ghost story,"she said. "Its very good. Very spooky." '"Do you believe in ghosts?" he asked. "Yes, I do," she replied. "There are ghosts everywhere." "I don't believe in them," he said. "Its just a lot of superstition. In all my years, I've never seen a ghost, not one."
