He paused, letting his words settle over us like a healing balm. Turning back to me, he said, “There is a way to stop this madness, but you're not going to like it."
I felt the room grow silent, breaths held in anticipation. The tension was a living thing, coiling around us as we waited for his next words. My mind raced with possibilities—none of them comforting.
