LOVE ME LIKE A CURSE
A neat red stamp marked the latest update: “Rev. 12 – Mandatory as of June 1.”
I closed it and opened the second: VERSION CONTROL. An entire doctrine on naming files—client name, date in YYYYMMDD format, version letter, initials of editor, status tag. There were examples. There were warnings in small caps: DO NOT SKIP LETTERS. DO NOT OVERWRITE. ALWAYS ARCHIVE PREVIOUS.
It was a lot. It was also familiar in a way I hadn’t expected. The chaos of creation locked into order by force. I knew something about that—the way I’d tape my paper down, measure margins, scribble titles on the backs of sketches, label boxes.
