With that, he pulled a USB drive from his pocket and threw it at Stephen.
"Take a look at what your perfect girlfriend has done," Harvey ordered. "Now, leave. Raelynn doesn't want to see you when she wakes up."
For the first time, I saw Stephen utterly defeated. His hands trembled as he picked up the USB drive. Without another word, he turned to leave.
I wanted to follow him, to see what was on that USB drive. But the clarity of my consciousness began to fade, replaced by an overwhelming haze.
A voice in my head urged me to give in, to rest, promising that everything would be better when I woke up. If I slept, I'd see my parents again.
