He’s silent because he’s waiting for us to stop shouting long enough to hear the world breathing." The neighborhood stayed hushed. The "radio man" hadn't conquered the "Silent Artist." Instead, the silence had expanded to include everyone in the courtyard. Tobi felt the blockage in his throat ease. He hadn't used the words they wanted, but he had used the truth they needed. He looked at Grandpa, who nodded once a slow, majestic movement. The knife had cut through; the bone was finally visible.

Her head throbbed. Why couldn’t she focus? Why did noises keep blending into each other? Why did faces look too bright? Why did sounds echo too loudly? She steadied herself on the wall, pressing her palm hard against the cool surface. “You’re fine,” she whispered. “You just need to stay calm.” But calm wouldn’t come. She felt the familiar pull ike threads in her mind slowly loosening, unraveling one by one. Over the mall speakers, faint background music drifted through the air. Then a tune floated by a soft melody, nothing special, and yet it made her freeze.

Thud. Thud. Thud. "What the hell is that?" Sam asked as something hit the wall in a continuous motion. It was coming from the room next to ours. Sam and I stared at the wall, wondering what Grace- the girl in the next room- was doing. The thuds grew louder and faster, then it finally dawned on me. My face reddened like a tomato as sounds of Grace moaning filled our whole room. "Holy shit. Grace, it's too early for this." Sam shouted but I knew Grace wouldn't hear anything, she was preoccupied at the moment.

"I'm sorry, Grace. The forest really isn't safe. I have to find him. I promise I'll come back and finish this with you." I gave him a faint smile, though I could barely breathe through the pain in my chest. He would not come back once he left. That was always how it ended. As he bent down to comfort Laila, I quietly poured the bond-breaking potion into the wine glass. I walked over and held it out to him, my voice soft but firm. "Finish this, and I'll forgive you." Philip smiled and finished it in one gulp. He put the glass down and left with Laila without a second glance.

The previous playfulness disappeared from his face as he sat frozen on his soft side, not even moving a bit. His prolonged silence thumped my heart as if it challenged me to correct the mistake I made unintentionally. However, I had no idea what I did wrong. So, taking a safer route, I closed my eyes, pretending to be asleep. That was when Cassian finally broke his silence. He grabbed my wrist, catching me off guard. “No!” he said, his voice rough. “You can’t ignore me like this.” My heart leapt to my throat as my eyes flew open, only to find shadows of darkness clouding Cassian’s features. He narrowed his dark eyes and said,

" Shane closed his eyes in pain. His head hung low, and his voice was hoarse. "I know it's all my fault. "I just hope I can stay by your side. "I don't mind being treated like a stranger. I'll just watch over you two in silence." I said nothing. After turning around, I walked to the window and watched the sky gradually turn dark. "Leave, and don't come back." Shane stood frozen there for a long moment. Only when I repeated my dismissal did he stagger away. His silhouette with the scenery of sunset behind him looked lonely and desolate.
