Before Jade or I could utter a word, Bruce’s massive frame stepped smoothly out of the driver's side of the SUV, blocking Ryan's path like an impenetrable brick wall.
"Step back, sir," Bruce commanded, his voice a low, lethal rumble.
Ryan flinched, stepping backward, but his sharp, bitter eyes remained locked on mine. "This isn't over, Ari," he muttered, pulling out his phone. "I'm going to figure out exactly whose feet you're lying at."
