**Kelly Thompson's POV** The silence isn't silent. It's a vacuum, a pressure that gnaws at the eardrums, leaving behind a phantom tinnitus-a high-pitched whine that isn't sound but the *absence* of it. The Valley of Echoes stretches before us, its jagged obsidian spires clawing at a sky stripped of color. Eden's breaths are shallow, deliberate, his hands clenched to stifle the faint hum still leaking from his scars. The Cantor's melody is quieter now, but not gone. A sleeping beast, not a dead one.

"A miracle." The First Silence They waited. The water lapped at their toes, calm, not expectant. The current seemed to move in time with Nya's pulse. Light shimmered across its surface, catching no reflections, only stories—scenes flickering just beneath: children walking, flames rising, hands held, blades dropped. Maera tilted her head. "Do you hear anything?" Nya nodded. "Everything." "And yet… nothing." "That's how rivers speak. They don't raise their voices. They wait until you're finally listening."

Only silence. Fade to black.

11-BEING HIM Athena woke up in an unfamiliar room, her senses immediately assaulted by an eerie silence. She lay there quietly, keeping her eyes closed, trying to gather her bearings. The beeping of the machines that surrounded the bed matched her breaths, the only indications of her heartbeat, her existence in this strange place.

Her response was to close her eyes tightly, biting down on her lips as if to prevent her from making too much noise. If she likes it so much, why is she holding back? “Open your eyes Raine.” I want to see it all. She hears me, but doesn’t open. “Raine? Does it feel good?” “Yess…” she whimpers out. “Open your eyes and let me see.” Still nothing. I gently tug at her hair, exposing her neck more. Her eyes flutter open, and so do her lips. She forms a perfect O, but still remains silent. I stare in her deep brown eyes, seeing them water.

Someone laughed. Someone said goodbye. Eventually, the house fell silent. Nate remained awake. He hadn't moved much. He sat on the edge of the bed staring at his phone. A message from Micah appeared. Micah: You okay? Nate typed: Nate: Yeah. He wasn't. But he didn't know how to explain that. Another hour passed. Then came a knock. Three quiet taps. Nate froze. He knew who it was. He stood slowly. Another knock.

He's building a server. Silas threw an image onto the main screen. It was a frequency analysis of the Gray Zone. Usually, static looks like random noise a messy scribble of lines. This static was patterned. It looked like a barcode. Repeating. Infinite. "The Silence isn't empty," Silas whispered. "It's full of data. Petabytes of it. Streaming directly into the minds of the people trapped in the Dead Zone." "What kind of data?" I asked. "Noise," Silas said. "Short, looping bursts of sensory input. Colors. Sounds. Dopamine

Bubbles curls beside me, her heartbeat steady against my palm. Somewhere in the distance, I think I hear Silen singing again. It sounds low and mournful, but beautiful. A siren song meant for no one. It drifts through the walls like a promise. And for the first time in days, I sleep.
