"Because Selene is coming. And she isn't coming for the mountain anymore. She’s coming for us." As if on cue, a sound echoed from the edge of the valley. It wasn't a howl. It was the sound of a thousand glass bells shattering at once. The Siren’s Mist was returning, but it wasn't purple this time. It was black. And from the mist stepped a figure that made my blood turn to ice. It was Selene. But she wasn't alone. She was riding a beast made of stitched-together wolf carcasses, and in her hand, she held the severed head of an Alpha I recognized.

We will be well ahead of them even if they do follow. As I am walking, I’m holding a device that keeps scanning for cameras or sensors. Marcus pointed to the first one that set her eyes on the captain. A female head with a curvy torso up to the navel, and the rest of the body tailed off like a fish. Her hair was a shining burgundy brown in color. She leaped out of the water like a dolphin and slowly swam toward the ship. More Sirens emerged out of the fog. Marcus pointed to one of them that had salmon-colored hair.

The high-frequency siren was a physical blade, carving through the air of the penthouse. Elara’s vision swam, but her instincts honed by generations of Vane hunters took over. She didn't reach for a panic button; she reached for the silver stylus in her blazer.

She wore a thin sheer fabric wrapped around her breasts, several necklaces hung around her neck and her hands were adorned in bracelets and rings. But what caught my attention was the huge crown adorned with jewels of several colours that sat upon her head.
