Sirens. They surfaced slowly, their heads breaking the water. They looked human at first—beautiful women with long hair and perfect features. But as they opened their mouths to sing, I saw the rows of razor-sharp teeth. "Cover your ears!" I shouted. We all clamped our hands over our ears as the sirens began their song. Even muffled, I could feel it—the pull, the desire to walk into the water and join them. It was like someone had reached inside my chest and was tugging on something vital.

My throat was on fire from all the screams I’d released while my body contorted in on itself. Within what felt like an eternity, but in reality was an agonizing minute, where my legs once were was a long, thick and scaly, green fish tail. We are talking about the sirens. Just like humans, there were many different types of sirens: males and females who took pride in their fish tails of different shapes and colours; and among all of them, there was one that stood out the most, thanks to her beauty, pale skin, bright aquamarine tail and vibrant pink hair. Her name was Marina.
