It was easier that way than facing the possibility that I may have just lost my best friend. When the devil is adamant that you have a bad day, I don’t think anybody can stop it. The loud clicks at the door, and the extra loud laughter with my coworkers from the hallway, was all I needed to know that my bad day was just about to get worse. My door was pushed open, and there stood my step-sister in all her glory.

The Sisters didn’t speak and their silence was worse than any threat. They were taken back to the garden cavern, the place of glowing trees. It was broken but still standing. Silver streams ran through cracked channels, and some of the light-trees had fallen, their lights fading. The Sisters shoved Ash, Kael, and Elara toward the centre of the room and then moved to the edges, standing silent and watchful. The Lead Sister stood before them. Her face looked calm again, but her tight mouth showed tension. She didn’t look at them. Her gaze was fixed on the silver cocoon holding Liora, which two other Sisters had placed carefully on a flat stone. It looked like a tomb.

Liam took the crystal and bowed deeply. "Your will is my command, My Luna." That night, I stood on the temple balcony, the moonlight bathing me in its gentle glow. My sister, Seraphina, draped a soft cloak over my shoulders from behind. "Still thinking about the dungeon?" she asked softly. I shook my head, then nodded. "It just... all feels like a dream." "It's not a dream, Isolde." She took my hand. Hers was warm and strong. "This is the life you deserve. You are not the bullied, adopted daughter of the Dust Tail pack anymore. You are the Luna of Silver Moon. You are my sister."

Zaynab interrupted. The girl just kept staring at me and Zaynab in a strange way that gave me the creeps. "Meet my older brother Kunbi and my twin sister Shunbunmi," Lokun said. Shunbunmi came closer to Zaynab and ran her hand down her hair. Zaynab stared for a moment and shrugged it off. "I can help you make the same style if you want," Zaynab said. "Yes, I would like that very much," Shunbunmi said softly.

I was more than ready to take on this adventure and see where it led. Raphael turned to Katrina, his voice low and serious. "What else do we need to do?" Katrina's gaze flicked to her sisters before responding, "Nothing, just stay back." With that, the three sisters formed a tight circle, each one grasping the strand of hair in one hand, their fingers intertwined. Their other hands rested on each other's waists, creating an unbroken connection between them. The air seemed to vibrate with anticipation as they prepared to weave their magic.

These strings were harder than she thought they would be. Undeterred by the setback, Zen checked Mandy’s lute and confirmed that another string on her instrument had broken. This was a puzzle game, after all! “Again!” he urged. “She might enter the last phase when we break all the strings!” Quickly now, Akiko and Liu Feng entered a silent competition. The last two strings did not break easily, and the third only snapped when Oritha jumped in on a kick with Akiko. Teamwork was probably the topic of this dungeon, but Zen couldn’t tell them that. Some of his teammates had fragile egos. However, thanks to Oritha’s impatience, Liu Feng realised what they had to do for the last string.

“Look over there.” Robbie jumped to the window and saw more than a dozen tanks driving toward them. Robbie said, “Quick, go. I’ll watch your backs.” The sisters remained motionless. Robbie stared at them in a daze and asked, “What are you doing?” The sisters said in unison, “You go. We’ll watch your back.” Robbie’s face sank, and his expression was more serious than ever. “If you don’t obey orders, then we’ll become a mass of scattered sand. We’ll be outnumbered.”
