Ashley’s POV Two days after we set out, I stepped into the heart of the bear territory. A man of truly massive build stood beneath the porch. He had to be over two meters tall, with shoulders broad enough to block an entire wall and a thick, unruly brown beard that covered half his face. This was Boris, the Alpha and ruler of the bear pack.

She said the bear wasn' s the only animal she knew who existed in this area, but it was one of the largest. That explained why the bear was always alone, which meant it couldn't eat anyone. Annette assured Alarik that there wasn't anything to fear from his fellow creature, if he just took his time and waited. If he wanted revenge on his older brother, then waiting might just make him lose the battle. Annette was probably right and Alaric didn' t want to give her the satisfaction of winning this fight for him but there was also a part of him that felt compelled to go. There had to be another way, after all.
