Ears twitched. A second later, the sky screamed. Something tore through the clouds above, wreathed in fire and shadow. Ekreth. He broke the heavens like a spear of flame. His dragon form was massive - larger than she remembered. His wings stretched wider than the valley, edged in burning gold. Scales glinted like obsidian, runes etched deep into his sides, glowing faintly with each beat of his wings. Fire licked at his maw, and his eyes - those terrible, beautiful eyes - glowed with fury.

Excited chatter was all around us. “COME FORTH, TYPHON!” A loud whoosh sound was heard, as if someone had tossed gasoline onto the fire. In the middle of the pit floating above the flame was a man on fire. Huge wings were spread out to his sides. His handsome features were breathtaking. This must be Typhon. Oohs and aahs were sounding all around me. Excited dragons moved closer to the pit trying to catch a better look at the dragon god.

"I would never let you die." Hope whispered to me. Then she let go of me and stood beside me with a corner smile, confident, she made a simple motion with her hand and that reddish shape spread further, like wings, but not just any wings, they were Dragon wings. As the wings passed through the shadows and places a bluish flame appeared and began to burn everything that wasn't solid. I could tell the shadows were writhing and screaming, they were screams of agony as they were consumed, the runes of protection disappeared and the magic that was in the place dissipated, but these flames didn't hit us, it was as if the people who were with me were immune to them.

“They are witnessing.” Kaelith shook his head slightly. “No. They’re hoping.” The air changed. Not from the storm, but from something else. The prayers rose, not as sound, but as presence. Something unseen, something intangible, gathered and moved toward the sky. Aurelian felt it. His wings burned brighter. Light spread outward from him, steady and unwavering, pushing against the darkness that had consumed the sky. Kaelith raised an eyebrow. “Okay… that’s new.”

My brothers and I materialized out of the way just in time but the force of the flames hit Katrina and her sisters like a whirlwind, knocking them back into the forest line. “Katrina!” Rowen yelled, and he materialized to her side. I look up as something catches my eye outside the window as lightning erupts from the darkening skies, I hear Deliah call my name as a massive ball of flames makes it's way towards us before it changes into the shape of a man. A wisp of fire slipped out of an embrasure and, growing and spreading wings, transformed into a giant blazing bird. Temujin made an uppercut and the fire bird shadowed his movements by first hovering like a crest affronté under the enemy ship’s bow and then streaking upwards with a raptorial screech and a fiery roar. Next, Temujin spread out all his fingers as he thrust his hand forward. In response, his red bird skimmed over the enemy ship’s deck and the pirates scampered. Sasha and Aki watched with fingers crossed as the fire bird glided towards the junco’s foremast.
