It is not like he will be around much longer, as I have already unintentionally bridged him to his mate. That is correct, I make bridges. These are spiritual and magical bridges for others to cross to that which they sometimes want, need, or desire. I only found out a few weeks ago that I have this ability. Prior to that, I had thought I was cursed. You see, every time I get involved with someone, they find the woman they end up with. They break it off with me. Oftentimes, they just ghost me. It is rude and pathetic, but most people lack bravery and basic decency.

Mine were welling with tears that threatened to fall and I could have sworn his were glistening too as he smiled back at me. Then, cupping my face in his hands, he spoke the words I’d always wanted to hear but never dreamed I would. “I, Finnick Cross, Beta of the Crimson Moon pack, accept you, Sarah Woods, of the RedWoods Pack, as my Goddess-given mate.” He poured all his emotions into those words. Hope, joy, want, need, and love. Most definitely love. Finnick Cross loved me and in that moment, I felt whole for the first time in my life. I asked, my voice barely above a whisper. His fingers curled tighter around mine. “Together,” he promised before leaning in to kiss my forehead. And just like that, the weight of uncertainty felt just a little lighter. I sat up slowly, inhaling deeply, my heart thudding with anticipation. Damien shifted beside me, his crimson gaze locked onto mine, his usual smirk absent. He was waiting. Watching. Ready. “This isn’t just about wanting it,” I murmured, half to myself. “It’s about bridging two worlds, about tethering your existence to mine in a way the waking realm can accept.”
