“Hooded. We didn’t see his face.” Andrey added, his voice tense. “He killed the maid with black smoke that came out of his own sleeve. The same smoke entered her mouth, suffocated her from the inside, and then returned to him as if it were part of his body.”
For the first time, Sasha showed surprise. Very slight, almost imperceptible—a slight raise of his eyebrows—but it was there.
“You’re saying…”
“That he used some kind of magic.” Andrey completed, his voice grave. “Black magic, something ancient. He wasn’t a Lycan, wasn’t a vampire, wasn’t anything we’ve ever seen. We’ve never encountered anything like it.”
