If I didn’t know any better, I would have said it was studying me. Another throb went through me. Then another. I squeezed my eyes shut. The feeling was becoming too much. My body was spiraling, my breaths heavy. This was the worst way to die for sure. When I opened my eyes, the greatest shock hit me. The serpent was…crying. I blinked. Once. Twice. Alpha Theo’s voice filled my mind almost instantly. “There's this creature, a snake from old stories…the Shadowscale Serpent. Legend says the tears of the serpent have magical properties.”

She tasted blood and him, and to her shock, she kissed back, her hands tangling in his braids. But as the kiss deepened, something shifted in Gorak. This fire in his veins, this addiction blooming with every taste of her sweet mouth, her tight heat, it confused him. Was this the legend of the women from Slytherin? They whispered that the first taste was poisonously addictive, a siren’s call that bound even the strongest warriors. He wanted to own her completely, mark her as his forever, never let another touch her. Breaking the kiss, he stared down at her with those molten amber eyes, breath ragged. “Do you submit to me, little sun? Will you be my mate, bound to me, body and soul?”

I continue to watch as Serena suddenly smirks, the kind of smirk that could make someone's heart waste away with absolute fear. She stretches her left hand, and I watch as the witches and wizards instantly freeze in their positions. Their bodies begin to take on a kind of strange shape, as though something is moving internally, breaking their bones apart and forcing them to move in ways that are against their own will.

The disgust on my face is certainly evident, and I'm having a hard time absorbing the fact that she wants me to take it like an energy drink. "Girl, that looks like a dragon's saliva." Monica's head peeped over Serena's shoulder. "The tears of Halmir have been gushing its waters since the creation of my world. It holds the power to restore the strength of any creature," Serena clarified and pushed the tube near my lips. Sniffing it, my nose immediately wrinkled. "It smells like Monica's foot," I commented. "Would you face the greatest enemy with broken bones?" Serena's strict voice made me swallow the liquid without thinking and breathing.

The sheer size and power of the serpent are overwhelming as its fiery red scales glisten in the dim underwater light. The serpent's immense body stretches an astonishing 150 feet in length, commanding fear and respect. Its elongated head measures approximately 12 feet, adorned with blazing orange eyes that burn with an unmatched intensity. The horizontal oval pupils, like molten flames, lock onto their targets with a menacing gaze, instilling a sense of dread and foreboding.

The Sorceress convulses, her screams blending with the elemental fury that engulfs her and she topples onto the ground. “No….this cannot….be….” she hisses and her skeletonial body begins to dissolve into a grostique heap until something begins to worm its way out of the dead Sorceress’ mouth. It is black and slimy. It looks like a slug, but it is as big as a snake. The thing sticks its head into the nighttime air before snapping its head in my direction.

The thrill of discovery surged through her as she pushed past the serpent's ferocity. Suddenly, the serpent lunged forward with terrifying speed, its gaping maw wide open, revealing rows of glistening teeth. Instinctively, Gabriel charged forward to intercept, meeting the serpent head-on, claws swiping through the water with feral precision. Their movements were a blurred dance of adrenaline and danger, the urgency of the moment igniting something primal within them all.

"Whatever you say, boss." … Meanwhile, Jorrell hurried into a cave. "Sir, I have something to report." "What is it?" Sylas' muffled voice echoed from the cave. "Don't waste my time with useless information." Jorrell's voice was low. "Silver Serpent says they have a very unusual item. It won't burn or even break." "Really?" Sylas sounded intrigued from deep in the cave. "Have them bring the item over. I'll examine it for them."

I look worn out. “Speak plainly,” I demanded. The serpent’s form coiled tighter, scales whispering against unseen stone. “The spring has tasted her. It remembers her mother. Her lineage sings in it. You cannot silence that song but you can drown it.”

Silver threads ran through the air like veins, pulsing faintly. And there—at the center—stood Serenya. Her hair floated as if underwater. The sigil on her chest burned bright, illuminating the darkness around her. She looked fragile and fierce all at once, her gray eyes filled with both wonder and dread. “Kaelen,” she whispered, voice breaking. “You shouldn’t have come.” He stepped forward, breath trembling. “You think I’d stay behind?” “You can’t fight what’s bound here,” she said, shaking her head. “It’s not a creature—it’s a memory given form. It feeds on everything that touches it.”
