“Is it obvious?” My shoulders drop, defeated—and he chuckles. Damn it. I’ve never seen him smile like that before. No sarcasm. No mischief. No sharp edges. Just… simple. Warm. For a split second, I forget where I am. Forget why I’m annoyed. Forget everything except the way that smile hits me square in the chest. I must be staring, because his expression shifts almost immediately, the familiar mask sliding back into place. “A little,” he says. “Come in.”

“I wish I could see his face.” Chelle smiled softly, imagining it — the quiet relief, the brightness in his eyes. “Everything is about to change,” she murmured. Daisy slipped her arm through hers. “Yes,” she said gently. “And it’s going to be beautiful.”

He seemed to be getting some sort of sick satisfaction out of making everyone uncomfortable. "It's lovely to meet you," Cassandra said, smiling warmly. "It's a pleasure to meet you as well," Paris replied, her smile genuine and wide. For a moment, I felt myself lost in their smiles, the two of them somehow radiating light and warmth. It was a strange feeling, but not an unpleasant one. "You have a lovely smile, it suits you so well," Cassandra said, her smile warm and genuine.

Greg notices me looking at them, and he smiles, “What?” I shake my head, “Nothing.” He looks suspicious, “You’re doing that thing.” “What thing?” “The emotional smile.” I gasp, “I do not have an emotional smile.” He nods seriously, “You do.” I narrow my eyes, “You’re lucky you’re hot and attractive.” He looks delighted, “I know.”

She squinted and then smiled. " Hi" Theresa Mo greeted him with a polite smile. She walked over to him and he shook hands with her before asking her to follow him. Theresa Mo turned back and smiled at the secretary who first talked to her and waved at her. The secretary bowed slightly and smiled back at her. The secretary admired Theresa Mo at once and liked her. Theresa's smile is contagious. Her smile automatically makes you have a relaxed facial expression and willingly reciprocate it. Julia Li took Theresa Mo to his office. A well furnished room with a sophisticated sofa. The desk was made from special timbers, maybe mahogany to be precise.

"What a welcome addition to our weekend." I smile. I take both his hands. I hold them for the appropriate duration. My smile is warm and genuine looking and contains absolutely nothing he can use, which is a skill I developed at fourteen dealing with my mother's second husband and have maintained through every difficult room I have been in since. I learned early that the most powerful response to someone who is performing warmth at you is to perform warmth back .... not to be cold, not to be guarded, but to meet their register exactly so that they cannot accuse you of hostility and cannot read anything in your face they did not put there themselves.

“The fire and brimstone can wait.. for now.. just for you..” I laughed a little at that, a small grin on his face; the unruined side of his mouth going up slightly. “Why do you do that?” I asked him, focusing on his soft and inviting lips. “Do what?” “Smile like that… you have a handsome smile, the one where you smile from the heart.” I admitted. “Oh… um… most people find this,” he indicated his face, “offsetting.” He frowned slightly, shaking his head.

Bless you dear" He smile as I gave him a side hug, The rest of the day went by so well as we kept laughing and celebrating catching up on old times, it was fun and welcoming I felt so happy to be surrounded by people who love me, it hit so different I pray this smile never leave our face,
