Draco's shoulders slumped, his gaze filled with remorse. "Veronica, I'm sorry," he murmured, his voice tinged with sorrow. "I have tried everything, but it seems the spell cannot revive your child. The forces at play are beyond our control." Grief washed over me in waves, consuming my very being. The weight of the loss settled upon my chest, an indescribable ache that threatened to drown me. Draco's words hung heavy in the air, his voice laden with guilt and remorse. His arms enveloped me in a gentle embrace as he carried me to the bed, his footsteps a solemn echo in the chamber.

They make their way down the hallway, following the crowd of students and staff still in the building and when they get to the source, it’s a dead boy being put on a stretcher and about to be covered by the medic. Raven takes a glance at the boy and freezes, her heart thudding rapidly, on the corner of the dead boy’s lips is a purple trace of blood — the same she saw on Draco when he was announced dead, by wolfsbane.

The sinister light stopped, and the puppets froze in place. Through the gap in the crowd, I saw Augus’s face go white in shock, his entire body stiffening. Before he could speak, before he could move, he collapsed. Not with the thud of a body struck by force, but as if he were a sandcastle, crumbling under a child’s mischievous kick. Or maybe I saw it wrong, but I didn’t care. All I knew was that Augus collapsed and the pain through my body stopped. A junior wizard had killed the others with a simple knife.

I chuckle as I collapse against a tree. My heart beating fast in my chest. Leaning my head back, it’s difficult to breathe. I look at the two-headed snake as it lays there dead before it disintegrates to ash. “Rosa, Rosa! Look at me.” I turn my head with great effort towards the voice and see Charlie standing there. I try to lift my arm to touch him, but I can’t. “Save her! Do something!” he screams as tears leave his eyes. “A price must be paid.” Is the last thing I hear when my eyes close and everything goes still and silent.

“You’ll do well letting me go if you know what’s good for you, Zayn. At least, you’ll get to see another day! Otherwise, prepare to—” Snap! His neck was severed into halves as his pupils widened in disbelief, his sentence hanging without an end.

He yelled and I tried to walk over his side, but the snake had gotten to him on time. “Santosis!” I cried the spell out but it wasn’t working on the snake, who take turns biting at Eric. I watched in horror as he begins to convulse. Slowly his convulsing stopped and tears dropped down my eyes. He was dead and now I have to live with the guilt for the rest of my life.

Then, I snatch the heart out. The organ falls from my hand before he does. Viktor's body begins to dry and turn white. My stomach churns and I look away from there. Silence. What now? Sara Desmond is dead. Viktor Drago is dead. What now? I respond to Raine's signal with my own. Footsteps ring in the room, coming from the hallway. I paralyze. Is there anyone else here? Rogue appears, freezing as he takes in the scene before him. I take a tired step back as I watch him for when he's going to attack.
