I spoke with a flat tone and watched the colour drain from his face and fear take over. “Kill him.” He shouted as he shifted into a muddy coloured brown wolf. One that was no match for my own. I ran straight for him, shifting mid air into Khaos' huge black wolf. One of the other wolves came at me from the side as Jack went in for my throat. Both were nothing, as I kicked my back legs out at the unknown rogue and heard the snapping of bones as I shattered his jaw. Followed by his yelp of pain. Jack, seeing that he wasn't going to get my throat veered left and jumped onto my back, sinking his teeth into my shoulder.

I lay on the gas, make a couple jumps and I’m close enough. I raise the gun back up and line up my sights when I see something beyond the rogue. It’s a territory marker. Shit. We’ve reached the pack lands. I can’t risk the shot now. My only hope is to keep chasing him in case he turns back and gives me another chance. Maybe I can turn him around if I get a good enough angle on him. I’d be screwed if one of my shots ended up hitting one of the pack wolves. Normal tranquilizers won’t do anything but these are special. Made specifically to knock out the wolf side and put the human side to sleep. No wolf means no extra strength, speed, or increased healing capabilities. Much easier to work with

The first wolf I had seen had been my father, a huge black wolf that could not have been real but this one seemed even more unreal. Midnight black fur that glistened even in the grayish day, sharp golden eyes and almost twice the size of my father, such a wolf was staring at me. Then it started to walk my way and I fought the urge to run off. Its presence pressed down on me and Grace hissed. ‘What the hell is he doing filling this place with his scent?’

On Gary's command the Betas shifted to gigantic brown wolves who launched themselves at the smaller Omegas. Carr gave the command and the almost one hundred wolves ran down into the clearing, snarling and leaping at the much bigger Dire Wolves. They tried to hurtle themselves towards the larger wolves and bite at anything they could get at. There was just no way to take them on one or two at a time. Torrance reached Ryan and picked him up off the ground. "Take your friends up to the hillside. Don't come back down here." Ryan nodded and started gathering his friends to run for cover.

I say steadily, “Listen to me carefully, there is another set of wolves we forgot to mention. Thank the Goddess for small miracles. “Give me the switch blade.” I say quietly. Sin passes it to me, “What’s going on?” “Rogues. Basically, they are thugs.” I said. Aiden looks at me, “I smell two.” “Then this should be easy.” I smirked. “Canary, Sin, stay close. Fighting wolves is different than fighting humans.”

The red crystal towered in front of me like a giant beating heart. Boom. Boom. Boom. The sound shook my bones. My son reached toward it. The fire from everywhere gathered into his tiny palm. It swirled like a bright storm. Lucian’s body was fighting in the air behind us. The dark creature screamed. “Stop them!” Fire wolves rushed forward. Dozens of them. But pack wolves crashed into them with furious growls. Teeth. Claws. Blood. The sounds of battle exploded again. I could smell fur burning and earth breaking and hot metal in the air.
