Kevin roared, his protein pistol wavering. "That's a modified version of the 'Sugar Disintegration Sonic Wave,' Kevin!" Riska shouted, her voice firm.

"Good. Stay connected to Sarah. If this goes sideways, we need extraction." She nods, but the worry doesn't reach her eyes. She is past worrying. We keep moving, pushing deeper into the tunnel. Then I hear it. A high-pitched whine, right at the edge of hearing. Ultrasonic. "Stop," I say, grabbing her arm. Isla freezes. I scan ahead. Thermal shows nothing, but the sound is directional, coming from the ceiling tiles ahead. A sonic deterrent. Non-lethal, but designed to drop a man to his knees with vertigo. If we cross that threshold, it’ll hit with the force of a physical blow—nausea, disorientation, total loss of balance.

Sonic scratched the back of his head. “Let’s go” Ben got up and pulled Dana to the corridor. “What about when that lady comes back?” Dana whispered. “Sonic will deal with it!” Dana turned to look at Sonic, just in time to see him rolling his eyes. Sonic put his index finger to his lips to command silence and a warning by a cutthroat action with the thumb of his right hand complete with a menacing look once he realized that he was seen by Dana. Dana quickly turned her head back.

They began to sing a series of high-frequency pulses that targeted the specific "Identity Frequencies" of the pack. Xander felt his memories of the forest beginning to blur. Selene felt the weight of her blades becoming meaningless. Even Emma found herself staring at the Conduit, her creative mind momentarily seduced by the terrifying, perfect beauty of the machine’s geometry. "Eva! The Prism!"
