If not for the faint rise and fall of his chest, I might've thought he'd turned to stone.
"The funeral's over," I said flatly, looking down at him.
This morning, I'd imagined what I might say if he showed up. I pictured myself yelling at him, maybe even grabbing his shirt and punching him in the face.
But now, seeing him like this, I found myself unable to say much of anything.
He suddenly snapped awake and staggered to his feet.
"I'm sorry, Sophia. I'm so sorry." He pulled me into a tight hug.
