I clench my fist to stop myself from shivering, maybe from listening to his words or at how the air is quickly becoming very chilly. The soul eater sits on the floor, covered in blood and something else that I don't recognize until I open the door further and step in. Looking down, I see a disemboweled baby torn to shreds. It's in so many pieces that I can't even tell for sure what it is, except for the baby bottle half buried in the blood and intestines. Suddenly, the smell hits me and I have to bend over as I lose my supper. Sandwich spraying everywhere, even on the soul eater. She looks up at me and smiles while holding an arm bone and then begins gnawing on it.

I looked to the side and I made eye contact with him, the devil himself— Professor Marison. He was staring, with a sly smirk on his lips as he twirled the drink in his cup. I swallowed and took in his attire. He was only in a dark red dress shirt, a few buttons undone. The little light made me see his skin, those hard pecs that I remembered touching. With his legs parted, sitting like a king, I felt a shiver run through my body with the power he had.

A good soul. A good soul… "Holy shit," I spat out softly as something that had been staring me right in the face hit me upside the head. "Mom!" Marcus admonished me. I ignored him. "I just figured something out." "What?" came from Erin. Cynthia was sitting down trying to recover her head while Benjamin was trying to stop puking. But the minute I spoke I had all their attention. I said, trying to convince her and myself too. She looked at me as if checking me out so I diverted my gaze, trying to focus my attention to Professor Esquerra. Prof. Jeremy Esquerra is also a good-looking guy like Prof. Trystan Fortez. Both of them are also good friends. Prof. Esquerra is our school doctor. He smiles often and more approachable than Prof. Fortez but I still find the latter more attractive. I am wondering why Professor Fortez is not yet here.

His shoulders are broad, his dark hair is perfectly messy and his eyes scanned the students once before he spoke. "Professor Harlan, thank you for the warm-up," he said with his deep and smooth voice. "I'm Professor Adrian Knight. I'll be taking over this Literature course for the rest of the semester." Whispers spread across the hall and Juliet stared. He looked too young to be a full professor, maybe early thirties, but his presence filled the room. He set his bag on the desk and turned to the class. "Forbidden love," he continued, picking up right where they left off. "The kind that destroys careers, families, even lives. Why do we keep writing about it? Why do we keep reading it?"

His eyes narrowed like I’d triggered a switch. “Oh god,” he groaned. “Don’t tell me you’re bringing him up right now.” I snorted. “Just trying to change the mood.” He crossed his arms. “He’s handsome. Too handsome.” I laughed. “And you think the Professor is what, blind?” “No. I think he’s still a man. And that guy—Elias—he looks like he was sculpted out of temptation.” I rolled my eyes and leaned into him. “You do realize the Professor isn’t some hormone-fueled teenager, right? He’s not going to just fall for the nearest handsome distraction.”

Jump: "Zzzzz," Hothead goes as he adjusts his sleeping head on his pillow hand. I watch as the snot bubble coming out of his nose shrinks and glows. "Sulien Bokamoso," Professor Purdue yells. "Sulien Bokamoso. Sulien Bokamoso, are you in this class?" I turn my head toward Hothead as he exhales, the snot bubble also shrinking. I roll my eyes and kick Hothead in the leg. His eyes snap open and his head shoots up.

Well, at least I couldn’t do that to allies. “It is time. Are you ready?” Professor Stern, the man who had posed this challenge to me, finally appeared before me. His face was still as expressionless as ever, but I could feel the turbulent energy of a powerhouse from his frame. This man could easily kill me a hundred times over, even with the benefits of Takeover and my other overpowered Glows. Crystal did say that she would be able to defeat him, but I didn’t fully believe her. I knew that most of her power was back, but she didn’t have the senses of a Scholar. This professor smelled more dangerous than Indra!
