Not even the boyfriend. Especially not him. I stare at the hand wrapped around Sky’s wrist. The hand quickly lets go. Good. For some reason that makes my breathing easier. A little. Just a little. The notebook in front of me remains open. Pages filled. Dates. Times. Locations. Little details. All of them important. Sky likes sitting near windows. Sky always forgets his umbrella. Sky bites the inside of his cheek when stressed. Sky hates olives. Sky smiles when he’s embarrassed.

Unknown The sun dipped low over Sunshine City, painting the sky in hues of orange and crimson, a stark contrast to the darkness swirling in Ambrosia's heart. She stood atop a high rooftop, her silhouette framed against the fading light, watching the bustling streets below. Her emerald eyes glinted with malice as she spotted Athena walking through the crowd, her beauty undeniable, radiant like the sun itself. “Soon, my dear,” Ambrosia whispered to herself, the corners of her lips curling into a wicked smile. “You will be mine.”

I hand Sky my helmet and take the basket from him to put away and once the helmets are in the saddle bags, he takes my hand and leads me into the small cabin. “We should have a few blankets we can use to keep warm for our picnic by the water.” Sky muses, letting go of my hand to search for said blankets. I take this time to look around, placing the basket on the bench in the entrance way as Sky disappears behind a door on the right side of the back wall. Infront of me is a small sitting area, the couches facing a large fireplace that has logs waiting to be lit.

Skylar I sat on the hospital bed, reading the novel Amber had brought me earlier in the day. After reading a chapter, I closed the book for a moment and looked toward the window. The sky outside was pale blue with slow-moving clouds, and I could see a few birds flying. I couldn't help but sigh, wishing I had my work iPad with me. If only I could hold it in my hands and draw again, I would have found a way to pass these endless hours. But no one wanted me to. Not my mother, not the doctors, not anyone.

Bibah continues to read the thriller novel. I rest my head back on the window and crane my head up at the sky. The sun is starting to set, the clouds pink and sparse, the horizon a brilliant orange and red as the sun sinks further and lower. A sprinkle of stars begin to make themselves visible, along with the skyscrapers of the city we’re approaching ahead. I close my eyes. Something tells me it’s going to be fine. I’m going to be fine.

Evelyn said, getting up. Without many better options I did as she said. The more I looked around the room it was just bizarre. I felt oddly calm and relaxed. Right now I should be freaking out more than I ever had in my life. But I just didn’t truly feel the weight of it all right now. “Here we go,” she said, handing me a booklet. “The Sky Light, a haven right here on Earth.” I flipped through the pages to see magnificent waterfalls, mountains and streams. Valleys with green pastures and animals all around.

“I don’t know. It’s unfamiliar. I’ve never had … this many feelings. I mean, I know I’m weird. And I know he is broken. But for some twisted reason, I feel better being weird near him than trying to be normal anywhere else.” Her honesty settles over us, heavy but real. And damn if it doesn’t make sense. I hate that I get it. “That poor boy has always been like a haunted house,” Rosa murmurs. Sky finally looks at her. “He might be a haunted house. But I think I want to live there.” Rosa crosses herself dramatically. “Ó, meu Deus (Portuguese = O’ my God).” “Don’t worry,” Sky says with a cheeky smile. “I’m bringing sage.”

Then, she directed him to turn around a little. "Now, which way are you facing?" "East." "Where is the letter S located?" Sky stood on her tiptoes, trying to see the compass. Lucas showed it. "On the right side." "That means every time you face east, remember that I am always beside you." Sky grabbed Lucas' hand again. "Now which way are you facing?" "South." Sky quickly moved in front of Lucas. "That means, every time you face south, you have to remember me. I could be far ahead of you or very close like now, but I want you to keep me on your mind."

A seam of gold tears through the clouds, and fire rains from the heavens looking soft, glowing, like a falling star weeping. Lucien joins me, his expression already wary. "You feel it too?" he asks. I nod slowly. "It’s calling me. South." "What's that? Do you know why?" "No," I say. "But I think... I think that’s where the story really begins." He slips his hand into mine. "Then we go together." But even as he says it, I feel the fire inside me stir. It knows something I don’t and the whisper returns. "Drakari, child of flame. Come south, where the Sky bleeds."
