The Eden System. High Orbit. Zero Hour + 16 Hours. The fabric of space tore open with a violent, blinding flash of cyan light. The Sovereign violently decelerated out of the fold-jump, its massive, three-mile-long black hull casting a long, predatory shadow over the Eden system. On the bridge, the silence was absolute. Through the panoramic viewport, the crew looked down at the hidden sanctuary of the gods. Eden was a breathtakingly beautiful world, covered in lush, emerald oceans and floating, geometric islands of pure white marble. It was a paradise.

Then they heard Isolde talk. “She must have a proper reason for that,” Isolde said Daniel and Arthur is puzzled to what Isolde have said but they continue on driving. Then they arrived at their destination. Daniel carried Alexa all the way to the top. Alexa is still unconscious due to the pain she has suffered. Then they arrived at the peak of the building and entered the ships entrance. Isolde have the main controls and Arthur is helping her. Daniel is still nursing Alexa. Isolde have fixed some wiring and then she have started their ships engine and take off. They were outside earth for a few minutes. Then Isolde move the ship father away from earth. They stayed in orbit for a few minutes.

The solidification of Aethel-9 in the Sahara had turned the desert into a sanctuary of glass and sound, but the L1 Lagrange point was already pulsing with a different frequency. ~Juniper's POV~ The hum of the spaceship's engines was a constant lullaby, vibrating through the sleek metal walls of the Odyssey. I, Juniper Martin, had been a space cadet for three years now, and this solo mission with Mario Russo felt like a dream assignment. Or maybe a nightmare waiting to happen. We were charting a new asteroid belt for the Earth Space Command, our urban inspired habitat pod mimicking a high-rise apartment in New York, complete with holographic windows showing starry vistas and a control station that looked like a futuristic cock-pit bar.

But Leo let out a loud cry, reminding me why I was still breathing. I grabbed Leo's and Isaac’s limp bodies. I ran for the escape pod at the end of the hall. I didn't look back. I jumped into the pod and hit the launch button just as the library exploded in a ball of white fire. The shockwave sent the pod flying into the dark void of the sky. I looked through the small window. The Spire, the great silver needle that had ruled the stars, was falling. It was snapping in half, tumbling toward the sun.

We leaned over the rail and drove the iron key straight down into the black fluid, clicking it into the basalt slot beneath the water. We didn't turn it to the right—the direction of the profit column. We turned it to the left—the direction of the Loss. It felt real. “What’s it about?” I asked softly, glancing down at the cover of the book. He took a small step back, his gaze flickering to the ground. “It’s about a boy who gets lost in space and… he has to find his way home,” he explained, his voice quieter now, the words coming slower.
