The silence, broken only by the mournful chirping of crickets, felt thick and unnatural. I circled the wreckage, my gaze scanning every detail, searching for anything out of place. A flicker of movement caught my eye – a glint of metal half-buried in the soft earth beside a shattered wheel. Hope, a tiny ember, ignited within me. Could this be a clue? Kneeling down, I carefully brushed away the dirt, revealing a small, leather-bound book. My pulse quickened. This wasn’t something that would have belonged to the Duke or Duchess. This was something Spencer had dropped in his haste.

The ginger haired instructed. “Okay,” Augustus answered, turning to leave, “otay,” Evy repeated cutely, making the elder giggle. “Let’s go get your book, baby bun.” The brunette said as he retrieved the spare key, and walked up the flight of stairs towards Lucas’s apartment. He didn’t really think much of it at first, but as he unlocked the apartment door and stepped in, it made him suddenly realize, that he was in someone else’s personal space and that fact made him blush a little.

Jasper stated with a hint of angst. “She’s evil inside,” Ben softly said. “You know that, don’t you?” He did, but Jasper had no intention of admitting it aloud. He’d learned long ago to keep his cards close to his chest unless it was absolutely necessary to share them. "You mean the book from the other day?" He questioned, as he snapped his fingers and produced a book with a silver spine. It was the exact book from my last dream. I longed to get my hands on it.

I pull out my phone, and seeing the message makes my smile disappear. Queenie: You are needed for a job; Ace of Spades has been played. Me: Fine, be there in 10.
