The wind howled violently, scratching at my throat until I felt an itch that seemed to make me want to cough. "Enough talking. Choose, or I'll let them both go." At Amber's signal, the men next to us hoisted both me and Tara up. The salty sea breeze hit me in the face, and the sharp smell of ocean water churned my stomach. However, nothing compared to the screaming in my ears. Before I could even draw a breath, Ethan had already made his choice. At that moment, everything went silent. Amber instinctively turned to look at me. My vision flickered and spots of black clouded my sight, but I did not know why.

The room tilted and spun, and then— Green light exploded around us, unnatural, shimmering like the edges of a nightmare. My pulse thundered in my ears as I saw it—droplets of blood, my blood, our blood, suspended in the air, hanging motionless for the briefest moment before they began to rise. My stomach lurched. They weren’t falling to the ground. They were floating upward, like summoned spirits obeying a call I couldn't hear.

she said confused while looking at me. "Maybe it's not working?" I said to her, questioningly. "That's impossible. I mean, I've treated many people whose wounds were deeper than yours, but they disappeared immediately," she said. "How did that happen?" I asked, confused. "I do not know. I'll just ask Grandma later, the important thing is that your blood is no longer flowing," she answered. We turned to Knox's when we heard someone shout. My eyes widened when I see the two vampires lying on the ground and slowly turning into ashes. Knox grabbed the neck of the vampire who was already up in the air and trying to get out of Knox's grip.

And that's when the final shock hit her, numbing all the cells in her body. Her neck and backbone screamed in protest and, the pain travelled up her spine to blurry her vision. Heaviness fell on her eyelids and she fought to defy it. But her body was already on the verge of shutting down. She felt something wet running down her nose and she knew that the volts were the strongest this time. As the first drop of blood fell on the wooden table, her body crumbled like a crushed paper and came crashing on the ground. The darkness surrounding her, but not before lighting that small hope of seeing Daniel very soon after this night.

She gritted her teeth and ran towards it but to her surprise, she suddenly stumbled into the dirt. She winced in pain as she slowly stood up. As she pressed her hand to the cold ground, her bangs blocking the view. She paused. Why is it wet? Did she stumble in the muds? Impossible! The soil is coarse! She then swept off her bangs away from her eyes and finally gasped in shock! Blood! The blood trickled between her fingers as it dripped towards another pool of blood beneath her. Hellion was instantly terrified and back off. Fresh blood! Why is there some fresh blood?!

It spilled over th‌e curve of his lip, traced a path down his chin, and fell in a‌ steady, d⁠readful drip… drip… drip ont⁠o the stark white of‌ his dress sh⁠irt. Chapter 13 Evelyn’s POV I took a step backward, my heel squelching in a wet pool of warm blood. Panic slammed into my chest like a runaway train. The bags of fresh produce slipped from my numb fingers, apples and oranges spilling across the polished marble, colliding with the crimson tide painting the white tiles. I spun on my heel, my heart thrashing against my ribs as I made a desperate dash back toward the heavy double doors— "Where are you running to?"

My stomach tightened painfully before another cramp twisted through my body. "Ah..." A whimper escaped my lips. My hands instinctively moved to my belly. No. No, no, no. Please. The room was dark except for the faint moonlight slipping through the curtains. Beside me, Adrian slept peacefully, unaware that my world was already beginning to crumble. Then I felt something warm and wet trickling down my thighs. My entire body froze. My heart stopped. Slowly, almost mechanically, I lowered my gaze. Blood… so much blood. The white bedsheets beneath me had already been stained red.

DAISY POV Blood dripped from my face onto the cold concrete floor. Drop… after drop… after drop. Warm and sticky, it slid down my cheek, tracing a slow path along my jaw before soaking into the collar of my shirt. The metallic scent filled my nose, thick and nauseating. My hands wouldn’t stop shaking. I stared at the spreading red spots, my vision blurring with tears. I slowly lifted my eyes and looked at Diesel. There was pure shock written across his face. His storm-gray eyes were wide, locked on the blood covering me. For a terrifying second, the whole room seemed to freeze. Then he muttered, his voice rough and low, almost broken:

A pulse. A presence. It began in the center of my chest. Then spread. Down my spine. Through my veins. Into every part of me. My breathing became uneven. The air around me changed. Maddalena froze. I felt her hand stop. Then— The blood suddenly erupted into light. Brilliant. Blinding. Golden. Not red. Not crimson. Gold. Pure liquid gold. Maddalena screamed. The bowl shattered on the floor. She stumbled backward in terror.
