The light from the Solaris Spire was not a color found in nature. It was a flat, antiseptic grey that seemed to eat the very air it passed through. As it struck Kaelen, the scream that tore from the boy’s throat wasn't just a sound of pain; it was the sound of a life being unwritten.

The colors seemed to hum with potential, and I dipped my brush in water, swirling it gently before pressing it against the first pigment.
