Jonathan neither hugged the child back nor did he push him away. The Prestons did not know what to make of his reaction. They assumed Jonathan was courteous and showed respect to Madam Preston by not throwing the child off. They all waited with bated breath for her response. “President Smith, this is Kyle Preston, my great-grandson. His father is the current army Colonel of P city, Liam, who just transferred from Maple City.” Madam Preston loved Kyle and had no intention of hiding him away.

“Your stance. Your balance. Everything starts from the ground.” His hands moved to my waist, adjusting my posture, guiding my shoulders. His touch was firm but gentle, his breath brushing the back of my neck as he corrected my grip. Alexandro stood behind her, his presence solid and commanding as he gently adjusted her grip on the wooden staff. “Your hands need to be shoulder-width apart,” he said, his voice low, steady. “Too close, and you lose balance. Hutton rushed in at the moment and froze at what was happening. "Stan, what are you doing?" he yelled. "Nothing much, just that I want to be Alpha..." She straightened, dignity intact, and stepped back as though the exchange had never happened. The crowd resumed breathing. Barely. That was when I saw Kyle. He stood near one of the columns, half in shadow, posture rigid. His expression wasn’t anger, not fully.

Seating at one of the wooden stool near the bar counter I looked at the familiar smiling face of the barista who is none other than my spy in this fucking club, named Kyle. Kyle is a vampire who works in this club at night. It's his part time job where he gets paid double. By club for working as a barista and by me for working as my spy. He provides me with information because such places are most likely to have mysterious guests with strong backgrounds and dirty hands. Many dangerous, wanted supernatural criminals visit here for not only messing around but also for buying and selling information, so it's very likely for them to have important information on each and everything.

She looked… relaxed. I hesitated, then walked over. “Um, sorry,” I said, stopping a few feet away. My voice sounded smaller than I meant it to. “Do you know where the main office is?” The girl looked up, startled for half a second, then smiled. “Yeah. You new?” I nodded. “Transferred.” “That explains the confusion.” She stood easily, slipping her phone into her pocket. “I’m Stacy. But everyone calls me Star.” “Chloe,” I said. “Chloe-Anne.”

Tyler went to open the door and let out a loud laugh. “No fucking way! Bro, what the hell are you doing here?” I turned around and my stomach dropped in the best-worst way. Kyle stood there shirtless, tanned skin gleaming with sweat, those low-hanging board shorts barely holding onto his hips. His chest and arms were covered in fresh ink — dark, swirling tattoos that ran down his abs and disappeared into the waistband. He looked bigger, harder, more dangerous than I remembered.
