​The Ghost of the Gutter ​Kaelen stood at the forward view-port, his bronze eyes reflecting the distant, hat-shaped glow of the Sombrero Galaxy. ​"My grandmother spent her life fighting for a single planet," Kaelen whispered, his voice echoing in the quiet bridge. "She thought the Gutter was a place in Tokyo. But look at this, Julian. The whole galaxy is being turned into a Gutter. Someone has put a 'Price-Tag' on the universe."

Xavier sat down at the computer desk, turning on the system, some of the monitors on the left wall coming to life and showing the garage, elevator, the room we stood in and the room below. Dane and Theo stepped towards the monitor with the room below. "Holy shit." Theo smiled. Dane turned on me, his arms crossed but his expression confused and awed. "You made a Stargate in our house?" I went to Xavier's side, putting my arm over his shoulder as his curled my waist, his large hand holding my waist. "Actually, Xav did." I smiled. They turned to look at Xav, eyebrows raised with confusion. Xav shrugged, turning to the keyboard and hit the activate command keys.

In the command sanctum of the Starship Aethelgard, which hovered gracefully at the very edge of an uncharted, shadowy galaxy, Commander Jarek stood before the primary observation wall. His fingers drifted over a sleek console made of condensed thought-crystal, his golden eyes reflecting the magnificent silver-gold shimmer of the cosmic grid outside.

Patrick patted Ariadne's hand and gently put it in her own lap as he spoke. Orion was analyzing everything he said, could they actually trust him. What about the information he had been feeding them, how was he getting it and why not just come out with it. Ariadne was starting to nod out. She leaned against Patrick ashe tried to respectfully steadied her. He looked at the note that fell from her hand. “The North Star.” The note read. Orion’s face turned to worry, his gut clenched in on itself. Danica’s on that ship. He stood up, his fist clenched at his side as he stared down at Patrick.

Star motioned for Mike to check upstairs while Mila checked the kitchen and unlocked the door for the others to enter and Beatrice to get out. Star hid behind the wall of the room they were all gathered in and released the cap on the wolfsbane gas. “What’s that smell?” Someone asked and everyone else murmured, it was time to reveal herself. “Hello, boys,” Star announced their presence, surprising them. “Who are you!” The Warden stood up angrily and charged forward. “Now, now Warden, the door was open, I thought I’d come in.” She smirked, watching as everyone stood behind him, ready to attack.
